BRP photos from my Tune-up Ride 2 weeks back
I actually meant to post these as the first entry to this blog.
I took a tune-up ride to Blacksburg, VA a couple of weeks ago to attend SFTIC. After the meeting, I shot over to Danville, VA to visit my friend, Barry Flinn, and headed back to Watkinsville via the I-85 superslab. All told the trip was about 1,000 miles RT.
Got into a little hot water with Gi because I was alone and couldn't resist taking a detour along the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville, NC to Boone, NC on the way up. I should have phoned to let her know I'd be delayed getting to my hotel about 3 hours. I HATE walking in to a hotel only to have the receptionist ask if I'm the guy riding in on a motorcycle from Georgia.
That's Green Knob Overlook at the bottom, the Mt. Mitchell Overlook in the middle, and the rhododendron was near the flying bridges just north of the Mt Mitchell Overlook.
Still, it was a gorgeous day -- dry roads, cool temps and not too many tourists. Late Sunday afternoons are not a bad time to be up there. In fact, anytime's a good time to be up there.
