Patricia Lake

While in Jasper we're staying at Patricia Lake Bungalows, a private Lodge and cabins on a small moraine lake above the town. We're about 3 miles from town, but it feels like 100. The place feels very private and relaxing. I didn't see any fish rising, though, and overallt he lake doesn't look particularly fertile.

Towering over the lake (and the town) is Pyramid Moutnain, and as we sat on the lakeshore below the lodge we could watch dark clouds billowing around the peak. We got to the lodge just ahead of a wicked little thunderstorm that folks later told us dropped heavier rain on the town than anyone had seen in four or five years.

The lodge sits at the uphill edge of a large aspen grove and there were elk grazing throughout the grove. A group of 4-5 does and a couple of fawns actually wandered right into the edge of the lodge grounds. Although I shot a lot of pictures, it was nearly 10 PM and the light was fading fast. This one of two does and a fawn (a bit difficult to recognize) was one of the best. The best was one with Gi in it, but she's complaining that I put too many pictures of her in the blog. (I can't help it that she makes most of my photos better!)
